Stan Wawrinka burst on the scene with a thumping victory at the Australian Open finals in 2014. What followed were two more Majors, including the French Open in 2015 and the US Open next year. Coincidentally, he triumphed over the then top-ranked player in each of those finals.
Now, his stature as a veteran earned him a wild card entry at the Cincinnati Open. The Swiss star defies age and continues on his mission to hit the bull’s eye amid the presence of younger stars.

Stan Wawrinka need not give up. The Swiss can always derive confidence from his past records. He made it to the 2017 French Open final. He also won an ATP Tour Masters 1000 title at Monte-Carlo Masters in 2014. Add to it three other Masters finals. Let’s not forget the doubles gold at 2008 Beijing Olympics partnering Roger Federer. Now, that’s quite a feat. However, the legend was recently found sobbing.

The Swiss was in tears in July, but vowed to be back at Croatia Open
Stan Wawrinka touched the emotional chord of his fans at the recent Croatia Open. It all started from there – his first ATP title came at Umag. However, he failed to lay his hands on the trophy this year, losing to Alexei Popyrin in the final. This came after his third round exit at the Wimbledon. But, at Umag, he made it to the finals without losing a single set.
The defeat did make him emotional. The Swiss was in tears and assured the crowd that he would be back next year. That’s Stan Wawrinka for you.
