

Guy Forget, tournament director of Roland Garros and Rolex Paris Masters, recently announced his resignation from the posts. He submitted his resignation to Gilles Moretton, the new president of the French Federation.
Guy Forget is a former French professional tennis player. During his career, he achieved the career-high ranking of World No. 4. He was part of the team when Team France lifted the Davis Cup trophy in 1991 and 1996. He served as the director of France’s two-most prestigious tennis tournaments.

Guy Forget resigns as the director of French Open and Paris Masters
The former professional tennis player from France, Guy Forget, has decided to leave his director position at Roland Garros and Paris Masters. Forget was the director of Paris Masters since 2012 and the French Open since 2016.

FFT (French Tennis Federation) confirmed his resignation and announced, “Guy Forget, arriving at the end of his contract on December 31, 2021, is leaving his position as director of the Roland-Garros tournament and the Rolex Paris Masters. His succession for the Parisian Grand Slam will be announced in the coming days. “

Furthermore, they quoted, ” The FFT would like to warmly thank Guy Forget for his investment and his exemplary nature (…) which contributed to the influence of these two major tournaments on the international scene.”

Guy Forget’s tenure as director
Under Forget’s tenure, he inaugurated the Simonne-Mathieu stadium in 2019. Moreover, he also restructured the Philippe-Chatrier court with a roof, and also made necessary arrangements for the night sessions. The 2021 edition of the French Open witnessed a lot of night matches.

Interestingly, Guy Forget announces his resignation in the same year Gilles Moretton was appointed as the President of the French federation. It’ll be interesting to see if this leads to any new developments in France’s leading tournaments.
