Rafael Nadal dominated Novak Djokovic at the French Open 2020 final. The Spaniard cruised his way to a straight-set victory to win yet another Grand Slam title. In the process, he matched the glorious record set by Roger Federer.
It is indeed an incredible achievement amassed by Rafa Nadal. Federer reached his tally about two years ago, and there were speculations if Rafa could match him or not.
Now, in 2020, two of the greatest athletes to play tennis are tied at 20 slams each. Moments after Nadal created history in Paris, Roger Federer posted a gracious message, congratulating his arch-rival for tying his record.

Federer’s post was well-received by tennis fans, as it proved to be a testament to the healthy relationship the pair have been enjoying over the years.
“Federer and I have had a very good relationship for many years. We have great admiration for one another,” Nadal said. “We’ve shared many of the most important moments of our careers competing against one another to the point of creating a rivalry that has surpassed the boundaries of tennis.”
“We value it and appreciate it in a special way. Tying him at 20 means a lot, it’s a great honour. It’s a wonderful thing,” he added.
Rafael Nadal on his harmonious rivalry with Roger Federer
As far as most tennis fans are concerned, the Federer-Nadal rivalry is the greatest in recent times. The quality of their matchups never fails to impress. The two icons of the sport have clashed 40 times. Nadal has a comfortable lead with 24 wins, compared to Federer’s 16.
Their first meeting came way back in 2004 at the ATP Masters 1000 Miami. Rafael Nadal came out on top in that game, while Roger Federer won their most recent meeting, which came during the 2019 Wimbledon.
Rafa and Roger have been competing for more than a decade, but they’re also the greatest of friends in the ATP circuit. In fact, it is a boon to see two fierce rivals who also have immense respect for each other.
