Former American tennis star John McEnroe recently spoke about Nadal and his chances of defending the Australian Open title. As there’s very less time for the first Grand Slam of the year to start, McEnroe revealed a specific quality of the Spaniard that makes him even more dangerous.

“The greatest single quality an athlete can have is that hunger, and no matter how successful you are, just being willing to do the hard yards and the work it requires to even give yourself a chance, and Rafa does that better than anyone,” McEnroe said at Eurosports.

The former world number one further added, “He keeps a humbleness and a cockiness at the same time. Which is a tricky thing to maneuver, and he does an incredible job of that. Very few players can do that, it’s an amazing quality and that’s why he’s won as much as he has.”

Nadal is all set and has already landed in Australia to defend his title. He also has the wonderful company of his wife and newborn son.
