Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer always had a great relationship with fellow compatriot Stan Wawrinka. However, once his friendship with Wawrinka became really vulnerable because of one alleged incident involving Mirka Federer.
Former American tennis star, John McEnroe, once disclosed a locker room dispute involving Federer and Wawrinka. Notably, Federer was playing against Wawrinka in the ATP Finals in 2014, when the incident took place.

John McEnroe talks about a dispute between Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka
In an interview with ESPN, ‘Superbrat’ McEnroe said, “Something went on in the locker room, there was a long talk between the players that extended well into the night.“
“And the stress of that — I can’t confirm all of this — but a lot of this went on and … I don’t think that helped the situation,” he further said.
Notably, during the 2014 ATP Finals, Federer saved 4 match points to beat Wawrinka and reach the final. However, Wawrinka was reportedly upset with Federer’s wife Mirka during the match, as she allegedly called out one of his serves.
Moreover, a French television channel claimed that they caught Wawrinka saying, “she (Mirka) did the same thing at Wimbledon.“
Despite all the rumors, Federer later posted a photo of Wawrinka along with other Swiss teammates, as they were preparing for the Davis Cup final against France.
Wawrinka called Federer the GOAT after his recent retirement announcement
Yesterday, Federer shocked the world by announcing his retirement from professional tennis via a message on social media. After his announcement, many tennis players paid homage to the legendary player, including Stan Wawrinka.

Notably, Wawrinka took to Twitter and used some crying and goat emojis to describe his feelings. Moreover, he clearly gave his opinion regarding the GOAT debate with his tweet.

Apart from Wawrinka, Federer’s other rivals Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal also posted heartfelt messages for the 20-time Grand Slam champion. Notably, Federer announced that the Laver Cup will be his last tournament on the ATP tour.
Alongside Federer, we will also see Nadal, Djokovic, and Andy Murray in this year’s editions playing for the same team for the first time. Safe to say, it will be an emotional moment for all of them; the Laver Cup will start on 23rd September in London.
