Stefanos Tsitsipas set to play men’s doubles at Australian Open

While the 2-time Grand Slam finalist will be a star attraction in the singles category, he revealed that he will also participate in men’s doubles alongside his brother, Petros. However, this leaves him with little choice but to choose his brother over his girlfriend, Paula Badosa. During a recent interview, the Greek star explained his difficult decision to choose his brother over the Spanish tennis sensation.

Tsitsipas said, “It’s a difficult decision because I really want to play with her. But my main priority is singles and it’s important to economize my energy during these hopefully deep runs. I am already committed to playing doubles with my brother [Petros]. So three events would be too demanding.”

Over the past few months, Tsitsipas has taken much interest in doubles with an eye on the Paris Olympics coming up later this year. Along with Badosa, he even reached the finals of a mixed doubles event in Abu Dhabi last month. But it’s the Greek star’s maiden ATP title with his brother that was a proud moment not only for the duo but also for the entire family.
