At the 2019 Madrid Open, the Greek professional defeated Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal to make it into the final. However, he finished runner-up to Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-4.
Following that, Tsitsipas overcame Fabio Fognini and Roger Federer to reach the 2019 Italian Open semifinals. He then lost to the Spaniard 6-3, 6-4.
Afterward, the 22-year-old played the 2020 French Open semifinal against Djoker. Although he lost the match in the decider set, Tsitsipas showed the tennis world he is here to stay.
Now, he has reached the Monte-Carlo Masters semifinal, where he will face the Briton, Dan Evans. Thankfully, Evans defeated Djokovic on his way, saving Tsitsipas a third-time nightmare.
Even though the list includes only the active players, it says a great deal about the Greek professional. Additionally, he hopes to defeat the king of clay Nadal at Roland Garros this year.
Who are the other semifinalists in Monte-Carlo, apart from Tsitsipas and Evans?
The other semifinalists at Monte-Carlo Masters are sixth seed Andrey Rublev and Norwegian talent Casper Ruud. Surprisingly, Rublev stunned the 11-time Monte-Carlo champion, Nadal, in the quarterfinals.
Unquestionably, Tsitsipas has a clear chance to win his first Masters 1000 title. Given his past results in 2021, this is the moment he will need to focus the most.
