Love is in the air, but so is football! The UEFA European Football Championship, also known as the Euro Cup, has captured the hearts of millions worldwide, drawing in passionate fans from all corners of the sports world. Among them, several sports personalities have shown their enthusiasm for the tournament, and tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas is no exception. But the question on everyone’s mind is: who is the Greek star supporting?

Tsitsipas’ love for soccer is not unknown. The Greek star player has often expressed his willingness to see the sport and meet his favorite personality, Lionel Messi. With the Euro Cup underway, the 25-year-old once again expressed his fondness for soccer and the team he is supporting. Speaking at the pre-match conference, ahead of his venture at the Halle Open, Tsitsipas spoke about the Euro Cup and extended his support to Spain, and even more so, his girlfriend Paula Badosa.

Chatting in the interview, the tennis star resorted to a ‘diplomatic’ answer. When asked which team he is supporting, he said, “I’ve got to keep my girlfriend happy.” Continuing further, he admitted that he would be supporting the Spanish team. “I’ve got to support Spain. It’s a very diplomatic answer, Yes,” he laughed. Spain has remained at the top of the points table at the tournament having defeated Croatia 3-0 in their first match. Tsitsipas and his Spanish girlfriend Paula have been together since 2023.

Known as ‘Tsitsidosa,’ the couple publicly announced their relationship in 2023 at Wimbledon. While they went through a rough patch in May 2024 and broke up for a while, the couple reunited in just a few weeks. The Greek’s latest statement on Euros has once again established the importance that he gives to Badosa.

In an interview with ESTO at the Los Cabos Open tournament in Mexico, he admitted the change that the Spanish tennis star brought to his life. “I changed my life because Paula Badosa brought a bright light into it, and I did the same for her,” he said. “I’ll be completely honest, I’ve never been more excited about the future, both in my private life and in my professional life.” Paula Badosa has also reciprocated similar support.

In the French Open finals, when Tsitsipas was going through a tough time selecting which event to choose, Badosa extended help. The duo decided to walk out of the mixed doubles, given the Greek was scheduled to play the singles quarterfinal just a day after. “I’m happy that Paula understood, in fact she was the first person to suggest it a few days ago but I was still convinced that I can manage it and be OK to play in mixed doubles,” Tsitsipas had revealed. Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas is facing a major crisis in the absence of a Fitness coach

‘I am not satisfied with Stefanos’ work ethic’ Tsitsipas’ ex-coach tears into him

Tsitsipas has continued to struggle with consistency in his career. His quarterfinal exit at Roland Garros is a potential evidence. Increasing stress for him, and his former conditioning and fitness coach, Christos Fiotakis parted ways with the Greek, per SDNA.

Soon after Fiotakis exited the Greek star’s team, he tore into him for lack of work ethic. Speaking to SDNA, he expressed his willingness for the Olympics but portrayed his upset over Tsitsipas. “I was really looking forward to the Olympics in Paris because I thought that would be the moment when we could bring the gold, which we didn’t do in Tokyo, due to bad luck and some strange circumstances,” Fiotakis told SDNA.

As I said, however, we have other priorities and I am not satisfied with Stefanos’ work ethic.” Continuing further, he said, “Right now I don’t think his ultimate focus is on playing tennis and getting to the top of the rankings or winning Grand Slams.
