25-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev has steadily risen on the ATP Tour since his breakthrough season in 2019. Ultimately, his unorthodox playing style and brilliance on hard courts earned him his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open 2021. What’s more interesting is that he denied World No.1 Novak Djokovic, who had a 27-match winning streak in Grand Slams, a chance to win the Calendar Slam in the final.

Statistically, World No.2 Medvedev is one of the best active hard court players in tennis. Moreover, in terms of numbers since 2018, the Russian is ahead of Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and even Roger Federer.

Consequently, the ATP Media Info Twitter account dove into tennis players’ success on hard courts since 2018. And there, the newly-crowned US Open champion had already set up his throne.

As per the stat, Medvedev has recorded a whopping 147 ATP wins on hard court tennis surfaces. Following him are Djokovic (115), Alexander Zverev (113), Stefanos Tsitsipas (111), and Andrey Rublev (108).

Moreover, the 25-year-old Russian also leads in the number of ATP titles on hard courts since 2018. Medvedev has 12, Djokovic has 10, Zverev has 7, Rublev has 6, and Roger Federer has 5.

Hence, his victory in New York was only a consequence of his hard-court expertise. It is the quick surface that bods well with his unique shot-making abilities.
