Swiss tennis star Stan Wawrinka has been one of the most instrumental players over recent years. From the 2014 season till the 2016 season, the 36-year-old player was one of the most feared players to compete against. 

During that phase, Wawrinka won three Grand Slam titles. However, things have not gone according to plan since then. The major reason for that has been his fitness.

Stan Wawrinka has dealt with health complications 

In recent years, Stan has been suffering from health complications. Recently, concerning his knee which has kept him out for a while. He most recently suffered from a foot injury which has delayed his return.

However, on the positive side, Wawrinka has begun training and was most recently seen practicing on the clay courts. Seeing him train on the clay indicates that he is targeting a return during the clay season and, most importantly, the French Open 2022.

Speaking about Stan’s absence, he has been out of action for a while. He was last seen competing at the Australian Open last season. Since then, he has missed the French Open, followed by the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open last year. Post that, he skipped the Australian Open this season as he was still not fitfully. 

Tasted success for a spell of three years 

Reflecting on his success, Wawrinka won his first Grand Slam title in 2014 at the Australian Open. He was up against Nadal and managed to overcome the obstacles for the first time. Following that, he won the French Open in 2015 after beating Djokovic in the final. In 2016 he won the US Open again beating Djokovic in the final.

Now, seeing his latest post, fans will be eager to see the three-time Grand Slam winner compete again. It would be a treat for one and all to see him compete in the way he did back then from 2014 to 2016. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the courts soon.
