The 20-year-old Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz had started his season in style but later on struggled with his consistency. This lack of consistency had cost him his top stop in singles ranking to Novak Djokovic. But did it dampen his popularity? Well, Plaza de Toros gave the answer on November 29.

Recently, he faced the 26-year-old American talent- Tommy Paul in an exhibition match at the Tennis Fest in Mexico City. The world number two easily defeated the number thirteen in the second edition of the Tennis Fest. This was Alcaraz’s second visit to Mexico and first time in Mexico City. Mexican fans came out in numbers to witness the rising star after getting deprived of the ‘Carlitos Show’ earlier this year.

Both of them had leveled at 2-2 in the H2H before this match. In fact, Tommy Paul was one of six players to defeat Carlos Alcaraz this year. The 2-times Grand Slam winner has won 6 titles this season including the emphatic victory at the Wimbledon. The promising youngster has now become a poster boy of tennis.

Tennis Fest gave the chance to the fans to meet their favorite sports stars. The event began at 4:00 pm and they had opened the doors to the fans to let them enjoy the training sessions and engage with interaction with the players before the match.

Tennis Fest is now an annual event in Mexico that draws some of the prominent faces of the game. It aims to promote tennis through entertainment. The Fest provides multiple complimentary activities for fans’ engagement and to promote sports tourism. This time it saw a staggering 20348 fans gathering at the Plaza de Toros for the exhibition match between Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul. More than 20000 for an exhibition match demonstrates the impact of the young Spaniard on the game.

Carlos Alcaraz now flies to the Dominican Republic to spend time with his friends for a vacation from November 30 to December 6. Later on, he will head to Riyadh for yet another exhibition match with Novak Djokovic on December 27.

Alcaraz has set his targets for next year

Carlos Alcaraz will look to grab his third Grand Slam title at Melbourne Park and start the season in style. The Australian Open is scheduled to take place from January 14 to January 28. Can he manage to do that? Well, the biggest challenger to his pursuit will be the current number one, Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian had earlier expressed his desire to win the Golden Slam (4 Grand Slam titles + Olympic Gold medal). Alcaraz had already deprived 4 out 4 for Djokovic this season, can he repeat it yet again?
