Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer recently hung his racket. The 41-year-old played his last match at the Laver Cup 2022. He partnered with Rafael Nadal to play against the American duo of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. As the legendary pair ended on the losing side, it marked an end to its remarkable career of Federer.

In modern-day tennis, Federer deserves huge credit for popularizing the game. He is today a known face in countries where tennis is not very popular. India is one of them. The cricket-crazy nation has a huge fan following for Roger Federer and one of his biggest fans is the former captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Virat Kohli. The 33-year-old was one of the first to congratulate Federer on his retirement. Later, Federer also responded to it.

Roger Federer reacts to Virat Kohli’s message

As Federer played his last professional tennis match, Kohli was quick to record a congratulatory video for the Swiss maestro. The video was featured on the official Instagram account of the ATP Tour. Here’s what Kohli said, “Hello Roger it’s a great honor for me to be able to send this video across for you. Congratulating you on a phenomenal career that has given us so many beautiful moments and memories. I personally had a chance to meet you at the Australian Open 2018, something that I’ll never ever forget in my life. “

The star cricketer concluded with a happy retirement wish to Federer. Later, the tennis great shared the video on his Instagram story and wrote, “Thanks @virat.kohli. I hope to make it to India soon.”

When Federer cheered for the Indian Cricket Team

Baack in 2015, Roger Federer extended his support for the Indian Cricket team for the World Cup. The former world number one shared a picture of himself with the jersey of the Indian Cricket team.

Later, the official Twitter account of the cricket governing body in India (BCCI) also shared the picture, thanking Federer for his support.
