‘So F***ing Arrogant’ – Novak Djokovic’s Bold Australian Open Statement Backfires as Fans Question His Humility

The world number 1 Novak Djokovic has his fair share of fan base that is always there to support him and cheer for him. However, he nonetheless also has a certain number of haters who keep him grounded from time to time. Just recently in an interview, he mentioned that his biggest competitor is himself for the Australian Open 2024.

This has come up to be very arrogant in the eyes of some tennis fans. And now they are hoarding against him and bombarding him with comments on social media accounts. Let’s take a look at them now.

Tennis fans react to Novak Djokovic’s statement about the Australian Open threat

In an interview, Djokovic mentioned that he considers himself to be his biggest threat at the Australian Open and then other players. This has made some fans mad at him.

One of the fans wrote, “Yeah you can afford to say this when your draw is so damn easy… I wonder if it’ll be like last year where he has almost all-night matches too. Well, everyone else suffers in the Australian sun.” Fans believe that Djokovic has it easy at the tournament because his matches are at night instead of under the sun which makes it difficult.

Another fan wrote, “Remember when Djokovic said something similar ‘it isn’t happening ‘ during Wimbledon and got humbled by Carlos Alcaraz? He Will pay for his arrogance again at AO.” One of the fans pointed to a previous scenario where Djokovic had shown confidence and he was defeated by Alcaraz. They anticipate that after this statement, something similar might happen.

Someone also commented, “So fucking humble lmao”, pointing towards the tone of Djokovic which according to them is not humble at all.

A fan said, “He’s gotten so arrogant; he needs to be humbled”, in regard to his statement. They feel that he is very much overconfident about his win and things may not turn out in his favor always.

The last comment was, “Antivaxxer is so fucking arrogant, and then his deluded fanbase claims He’s so humble.” Fans feel that he is delusion about being at the top and he can come down anytime so he must now show so much overconfidence and arrogance.

However, Djokovic was unaffected by these comments and continued to establish how much he loved playing at the Australian Open.

Djokovic mentions how the court for the Australian Open holds a special place in his heart

In an interview, Djokovic shared: “I’m just hoping I can start the season in a way I’ve been starting most of my seasons throughout my career – with a win in Australia, in Melbourne. My favorite place, no doubt,”

He also further added the reason behind it: “The court where I’ve done great things and achieved my greatest Grand Slam results. I hope that I’m going to be able to, if not play at the level that I did last year, then be very close to that because that was one of the best tennis levels that I’ve ever played, here in Australia last year.”

However, it seems like Djokovic will have an easy first match against 18-year-old Dino Prizmic. Aryna Sabalenka, the women’s champion, will play against Ella Seidel. This means the first day at Rod Laver Arena could finish quickly.
