The world number 1 Novak Djokovic has his fair share of fan base that is always there to support him and cheer for him. However, he nonetheless also has a certain number of haters who keep him grounded from time to time. Just recently in an interview, he mentioned that his biggest competitor is himself for the Australian Open 2024.

In an interview, Djokovic mentioned that he considers himself to be his biggest threat at the Australian Open and then other players. This has made some fans mad at him.

He Will pay for his arrogance again at AO.” One of the fans pointed to a previous scenario where Djokovic had shown confidence and he was defeated by Alcaraz. They anticipate that after this statement, something similar might happen.

The last comment was, “Antivaxxer is so fucking arrogant, and then his deluded fanbase claims He’s so humble.” Fans feel that he is delusion about being at the top and he can come down anytime so he must now show so much overconfidence and arrogance.
However, Djokovic was unaffected by these comments and continued to establish how much he loved playing at the Australian Open.

Djokovic mentions how the court for the Australian Open holds a special place in his heart
In an interview, Djokovic shared: “I’m just hoping I can start the season in a way I’ve been starting most of my seasons throughout my career – with a win in Australia, in Melbourne. My favorite place, no doubt,”
He also further added the reason behind it: “The court where I’ve done great things and achieved my greatest Grand Slam results. I hope that I’m going to be able to, if not play at the level that I did last year, then be very close to that because that was one of the best tennis levels that I’ve ever played, here in Australia last year.”

However, it seems like Djokovic will have an easy first match against 18-year-old Dino Prizmic. Aryna Sabalenka, the women’s champion, will play against Ella Seidel. This means the first day at Rod Laver Arena could finish quickly.
