Confusion regarding Andy Murray’s Wimbledon participation continues to brew! Only a few hours ago, Murray’s team declared that they have not made any decision regarding his upcoming performance at Wimbledon. Surprisingly, on the other hand, a tweet from the official website of “Telegraph Sport,” hinted at him being “ruled out” already! Therefore, uncertainties were further heightened. However, to every fan’s relief, Murray’s mother has come to the rescue with the latest news!

Andy Murray’s mother, Judy Murray, responded to the “Telegraph Sport,” post on X, stating, “When your private medical details are leaked to the media by someone you thought you could trust. So disappointing. And – FYI – not ruled out yet.” The original post a few minutes ago stated, “Exclusive: Andy Murray ruled out of Wimbledon after operation on spinal cyst.” However, according to Murray’s mother, nothing is certain as of yet. The news comes only a few hours after the medical team of the three-time Grand Slam champion declared that Andy Murray “is continuing to work with his medical team to confirm when he will return to the court….” Further adding to it, they also made it clear that the decision is still pending.

Murray picked up a back and leg injury during the Queen’s Club Championships just a few days ago in the Round of 16 match while swinging his racquet against Jordan Thompson. Therefore, the Brit had to retire mid-match while the score remained halted in the first set, where Thompson led by 4-1. Sad at this disappointing end to his match in London, the 37-year-old later shared, “I never had that loss of coordination, control and strength in my leg before. I’ve been struggling with my back for a while – I had lost the power in my right leg so lost all motor control..”

Not only that, the three time Wimbledon champion underwent back surgery this weekend as well. Strangely, a post from the ATP website (which they later deleted), echoing the latest tweet from “Telegraph Sport” further shared information on the same through a tweet. It read, “After an operation on a spinal cyst, Andy Murray is sadly out of Wimbledon. Rest up and recover Andy, we’ll miss seeing you there.” However, neither Murray nor his team released an official statement regarding it.

The 37-year-old player’s struggle with back injuries is not new. Murray’s back surgery in 2013 also hinted at this prolonged issue but reportedly planning to retire after the Summer Olympics, Murray is not giving up so easily! After all, he has yet to perform in his possible last career match at Wimbledon and then at the Olympics. Therefore, the tennis world is holding its breath until Murray comes up with a decision about his performance. On the other hand, the Briton is nothing but grateful for the chances he received to perform at Wimbledon and the Olympics.

Just before his Queen’s Club withdrawal, Andy Murray appeared for an exclusive interview with BBC regarding his upcoming matches on tour. When asked about his participation in the U.S. Open or Davis Cup, Murray had a straightforward answer. “I don’t think so. Probably if I was going to finish my career I would rather finish at Wimbledon or an Olympic Games – to me, that would probably be more fitting.”

However, further adding, the two time gold medalist at the Summer Olympics said, “I’ve had amazing experiences and memories from Wimbledon, but also being part of British Olympics teams. “To get a chance to compete at a fifth one is a reason to stay motivated and continue playing.” Andy Murray’s Wimbledon dreams first became a reality in 2013, when he created history by being the first British player to earn the title after 77 years. However, a decade later, Murray is yet to decide whether he wants to grace the lush green courts of Wimbledon for the last time or not.
