Carlos Alcaraz has been the center of attention ever since he laid his hands on the precious Wimbledon title. In an intriguing final that lasted for around 5 hours, it was Alcaraz who claimed victory by defeating Novak Djokovic. Ever since his win, he has been off the court trying to take some time and get ready for his next challenge.
The Spaniard will be taking part in the upcoming Toronto Masters as he readies himself for the upcoming US Open. However, talking about Alcaraz, former world number 2 player, Alex Corretja revealed the Spaniard’s biggest competitor, and it was not Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal.

Alex Corretja reveals Carlos Alcaraz’s biggest rival
In a recent interview with Tennis 365, Corretja revealed who he thinks Alcaraz’s real challenge would be. He also talked about how good he has been on the courts in recent days while also shedding light on the fact that the current number 1 player will have moments of downfall as well.
“Carlos is an incredible player, but he is not superhuman and that means he will have bad days.
“I don’t expect that to be the way we see tennis now and if Alcaraz is the No 1, he will have some weeks when he loses early. That is normal in tennis. What we see with these three guys winning 20 Grand Slams and all the big tournaments is not what tennis is normally like. Things will be different now,” said Alex in the interview.

However, he also indicates that his losses might not come from a direct rival, but from an indirect rival that he might not have expected. After his Wimbledon win, he is back and hungry for more glory at the Toronto Masters.

“I had just a week to think about it. I had not too much time and I think I needed a little bit more because it’s something that is crazy to realise,” said Alcaraz. He continued, “Honestly, for me, winning Wimbledon at 20 years old is something that I dreamed about when I started playing tennis. It was my fourth tournament on grass, so it was totally unexpected.”
