Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal also suffered a shoulder injury during his semi-final match against Carlos Alcaraz. So, this could be a blessing in disguise for the Spaniard, as he didn’t look comfortable against Alcaraz despite the win.
If this turns out to be true, it will be a massive blow for the fans who are waiting to witness yet another blockbuster contest between two players in top-notch form.
Fritz had a dream run at the Indian Wells
It seems like Fritz absolutely loves playing here at the Indian Wells. Last year, he reached the semi-final and this year he made it to the final. Incidentally, this was his first-ever Masters 1000 final. No.20, in the ATP rankings, Fritz had a pretty good year so far, as he reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, which was his best result in Grand Slams.
Earlier, he also reached his career-high ranking, no.16. According to reports, he could achieve his highest ever ranking (no.15) on Monday. En route to the final, he beat the no.7 seed Andrey Rublev in the semi-final match, where he played incredibly aggressive tennis. Even Rafael Nadal praised Fritz for his attacking tennis. Fans were hoping for another showdown between the two. However, it’s highly unlikely that fans will see a match.
