Former American tennis ace Andre Agassi started dating actress and model Brooke Shields in 1993. The couple tied the knot in 1997, but Shields and Agassi’s unsuccessful marriage ended 2 years later. While the couple’s marriage may have been short-lived, they lived through numerous highs and lows. In her recent documentary Pretty Baby, Shields talks about how Agassi helped her in her desperate attempts to bring her mother Teri Shields out from her heavy drinking habit.
Shields reveals her worries about her mother and how her alcoholism was affecting her. As a last-ditch effort, Shields and Agassi’s manager hatched a plan to gut her mother’s office.

Shields gets quite emotional in the documentary as she looks back on a time that took such a toll on her. She says, “I knew my mom had no intention of stopping drinking.”
She goes on to add, “the alcohol was ruining her brain and I think she had had a couple of mini strokes.” Shields was afraid that her mother “was going to self destruct.”
Shields states that she “was trying to systematically take control of everything in a very fair and kind way”. However, her mother simply “wasn’t hearing it.”
Ultimately, Shields decided to do “the most violent thing” she had ever done. Along with Agassi’s manager, she “organized a team” and gutted an office building she shared with her mom.
Shields’ relationship with her mother fractured following the incident that also involved Andre Agassi
After Shields and Agassi’s manager gutted the office, her mother was in a state of shock after “she went in on a Monday morning”. In clear distress in the documentary, Shields imagines what her mother “must have felt walking” into “an empty, echoing four-story building.”

Shields’ mother, shocked after the experience, went missing “for a couple of days.” Worried, Shields reached out to the police. However, her mother did eventually resurface, but was furious at her daughter for what she had done.
“She never forgave me for that”, Shields says in a painful admission in the documentary. Her mother also appeared in a public interview and gave her honest opinion about her daughter and her relationship with Agassi.
