70-Year-Old American Tennis Legend Relishes Life as He Shares Endearing Update on His Quiet Florida Life Involving Wife and Son

Talking about charismatic personalities in the world of tennis, very few can match up to the legendary Jimmy Connors. One of the very best to ever pick up a racket, Jimbo, as he was fondly called, captivated millions of fans with his on-court brilliance and off-court flamboyance. The 8-time grand slam champion was a force to reckon with during his heydays back in the 1970s and 80s. Despite being so successful as a player, Connors never missed out on his life away from the tennis court.

Connors has always maintained a colorful personal life, putting a lot of importance on spending quality time with his family. During his playing days and after it, the American has made the most of his time with his family, cherishing precious moments away from the limelight. He seems to be doing exactly the same, as his recent tweet suggests.

Jimmy Connors spends reposeful time as he reveals activities of family members

Jimmy Connors, the winner of a record 109 ATP titles, tied the knot with Patti McGuire in 1979. McGuire herself was a very well-known name in the entertainment industry, having been a Playboy model for long. The couple overcame some tough times together over the years, which made their bond even stronger. Throughout the years, their relationship made Connors a stronger person, as he has mentioned time and again. Unsurprisingly, Connors never misses an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the presence of his wife and 2 children in his life. While enjoying some time away from the bustling life at Palm Beach in Florida, Connors clearly had family in his mind. 

He took to Twitter to express how much he is loving his life at the moment and shared updates on the activities of his wife and 2 children – son Brett and daughter Aubree. “Spent a great week in Palm Beach with @AConnors84 taking care of business— @Brett_Connors taking a few days off before US Open to hang in SB with me and golf- and @PattiConnors is off to a dance competition— life is busy- I love it !!!!”, he tweeted.

Just a few days ago, Jimmy Connors shed light on the ways he used his desire to spend more time with family to drive him to further success in his career.

Connors channeled his wish of spending time with family into motivation for his tennis career

In a recent episode of Connors’ podcast ‘Advantage Connors’, which he hosts along with his son Brett, he opened up on trying to strike a perfect work-life balance during his playing days.

He mentioned that he had to keep training and work on his fitness even when he was on vacation with his family. “You know, I didn’t really want to because I’d rather, you know, spend the time with you guys and go up on the mountain and have a nice lunch and have a, you know, have a nice hot chocolate or whatever”, he said, referring to his dilemma of choosing between putting in the extra hours in training and spending quality time with his family.

In hindsight, it is very clear that family played a hugely significant role in Jimmy Connors’ life, including the stellar career that he had as a tennis professional. And although he couldn’t give as much time to his family as he would have liked to in the past, he is certainly making up for it now!
