The Swiss maestro Roger Federer retains an aura of magnetism due to his charming and affable personality. And an old incident shared by the former Nike tennis director will make you believe that the 20-time champion is a very down-to-earth person even after being hailed as the greatest. 

The former world number one is a very humble and disciplined person. However, sometimes people enjoy hating successful celebrities or athletes for myriad reasons. But for the Swiss tennis legend, people who speak ill against him or throw shade at him are very few in number.

The following story recounted by the former Nike director can give you an indication as to why he is well-liked by the tennis community.

Nike director talks about Roger Federer’s aura 

In an instance from the book, ‘The Roger Federer Effect,’ the ex-director of tennis at Nike, Mike Nakajima, made an interesting revelation regarding the former world number one. Nakajima recalled an incident that took place in 2007 when the Swiss ace visited the Nike campus. He talked about Federer’s aura that creates a beautiful environment around him.

Nakajima recounted, “Roger served coffee and doughnuts that day. He gave a gym lesson, passed out lunch, worked as a cashier, and played Wii tennis in the lobby of one of the buildings. You have to be a certain type of person to pull that off. Not many athletes are going to be OK with that. Roger was a perfect guy to do that. He’s a pleaser. People love to hate successful people. They’re jealous.”

Additionally, he also mentioned how the billionaire tennis star adjusts his conversations based on his target audience and knows how to connect with grown-ups and kids alike.

However, last year itself, when the tennis star was out of the professional tour because of his injury, there was one tennis player who missed the tennis legend and the warm environment he creates on the ATP tour.

When another former ATP player made a similar admission regarding Federer’s aura

Similarly, former world number 3, David Nalbandian, said last year that the professional ATP tour felt ‘different’ with Federer’s presence. The Swiss Maestro was out due to injury, and Nalbandian missed him sorely.

According to the former ATP player, the Swiss Maestro has an aura about him that makes people feel comfortable.
