Can Taylor Fritz finally overcome Jannik Sinner's dominance, or is the Italian just too unstoppable?

Jannik Sinner is showing everyone exactly why he holds the World No. 1 spot! Through the highs and lows—including a swirling doping controversy—the Italian star has remained cool and collected, delivering one stellar performance after another. With seven titles under his belt this year, including two Grand Slam wins, Sinner’s resilience and focus are the talk of the tour. And now, the latest to sing his praises? None other than American sensation Taylor Fritz.

The American tennis sensation engaged in an interview with the ATP media ahead of the season finale, which is scheduled to take place from November 10. He deliberated on a wide range of factors including his preparation for the tournament and his take on his opponents. Reflecting on Sinner, Fritz let his true feelings out and sang immense praises for the Italian tennis dynamo.

Speaking in the interview, Fritz said, “He’s been so consistent. I would say the most impressive thing is that he hasn’t played a bad match. He’s just been really solid all year.” Sinner’s performance can be measured from his last three tournaments itself. Despite facing a turbulent phase due to his controversy that gained light after the Cincinnati Open, Sinner managed to qualify for the finals of all three tournaments he faced. In fact, he emerged victorious in the US Open and the Shanghai Masters, besides clinching the runner-up title in the China Open. Fritz’s praise for Sinner did not end here.

Continuing further, the American star said, “Super aggressive from the baseline, tough to get him on defence because a lot of his defence is playing big out of the corners, almost playing offence. He’s improved his serve so much, massive improvement. He’s become a very good server.” This comes at a time when Fritz would be eyeing to take a revenge of the US Open defeat from Sinner.

Remember, Fritz played the Italian sensation in the finals of the US Open this year. Despite being on a sensational form, he managed to gain control over the match and lost in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Now, with him eyeing a comeback, this praise speaks volume about Sinner’s dominance. Interestingly, this is not the first time when Fritz has expressed such sentiments for Jannik Sinner.

In an interview with Tennis Channel in October this year, Fritz highlighted what makes Sinner and Calros Alcaraz one of the most formidable forces on courts. “What impresses me the most about Jannik and Carlos is how incredibly well they defend. In fact, it’s not even that they defend, but when they find themselves in a corner of the court, they explode the ball. If I don’t manage to completely overwhelm them, the next ball will completely displace me,” he said. But despite the praises that Sinner has continued to receive, he wishes to keep working on his skills.
