Spanish tennis legend, Rafael Nadal, has had a torrid 2023 season. Plagued by injuries, the 37-year-old has played just two tournaments this year, including the year-opening Grand Slam, the Australian Open. He has been struggling with a hip issue and psoas tendon injuries, which have affected the area stretching from the lower spine through the groin. Additionally, he also underwent surgery for the latter. But despite his heartbreaking injury status and rumors of a comeback, Nadal has provided a major update on next year’s Australian Open.

At 37, the Spaniard is nearing the end of his illustrious career. However, he wants to have one final laugh as he drops exciting news on his future. Hearing from their idol after so long, fans were left in a frenzy.

Earlier today, Nadal took to his official Twitter handle where he thanked the Australian Open for showing confidence in him for making a comeback. Additionally, he also informed that he has been working hard every day to play at the tournament next year.

 

Reacting to this, one elated fan stated, “SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP HE’S COMING BACK SOON. CAN’T WAIT FOR 2024.”

Further, another fan said, “As a Djokovic fan, I would love for you to come back in Australia so we can have a trilogy between you and Djokovic at the Australian Open. Let’s go!”

One Twitter user deeply missed watching Nadal in action. The comment read, “We miss you!”

They admitted to having missed him in action and encouragingly continued, saying, “Well, tennis aint as fun without you. Hope to see you on the court (esp RG) soon. Vamos the hell outta everything.”

Similarly, another fan said, “Wherever that will be, it will be the happiest day! Good luck with all your preparations and take care. We miss you indescribably.”

Meanwhile, one of the Twitter users wished for Nadal to add another Grand Slam title as the comment read, “Time for 23.” The Spaniard has 22 major titles to his credit and was once touted to be the player with the most number of titles before Novak Djokovic surpassed him.

The Australian Open this year was Nadal’s last tournament before taking a break from tennis. He’ll look to quickly recover and hit the courts again next year.
