Andrey Rublev charged ahead with a 3-0 lead, impressing the crowd with his aggressive game. However, Daniil Medvedev, a former champion, demonstrated remarkable resilience, orchestrating a comeback that left spectators in awe.

As the match went on, it became clear that this was not an ordinary game. Rublev, who is known for getting upset easily, got frustrated, especially with the shot clock and an umpire’s decision that made things worse. The terribly hot weather at NYC made everything more intense as well.

A passionate fan on the app X, formerly known as Twitter, echoed Rublev’s sentiments, exclaiming, “I’m with Rublev on this one. Umpire needs to delay on calling the score so quickly to allow for a towel. Rushing Rublev’s service game in ridiculous heat, and they HAVE to walk to the towel box because the @atptour is soft as baby sh*t and won’t allow ball kids to bring the towels.”

This event only served as a domino effect to what can only be labelled as a series of unfortunate events.

As Medvedev and Rublev battled it out in the US Open quarterfinals, the blazing sun made things even tougher. Both players had to deal with not just each other but also the scorching weather. Despite his Inhaler problem, Medvedev seemed to have more energy, moving well despite the hot conditions. But Rublev looked tired and not as energetic as he did earlier in the match. Rublev, in his usual style, kept fighting even though he was tired. He got a chance to win a point, but he couldn’t hit the ball as powerfully as he did before because of the heat.

The peak competition between the two compatriots was seen in the final set, but alas, it was too late for Rublev to save the match, eventually losing it in straight sets to a heat-struck Medvedev.
