Nick Kyrgios has been out since the season began. An injury before the Australian Open required him to get surgery, and he has not managed to recover enough to play in his capacity as a professional player. He was set to play in the first slam in 2024 but announced a withdrawal from that as well. As he is plagued by recovery problems, a tennis reporter gave Roger Federer as an example to talk about the state of his career.

How Kyrgios announced his withdrawal news was classic Kyrgios. But his fans and followers of the sport couldn’t laugh with him as they wondered what would become of his career. It is a thought shared by the tennis reporter as well.

Brett Phillips, like a plethora of fans of Kyrgios, was saddened by the news of his withdrawal after the hype around his comeback. But Phillips went a step ahead and said that there is a great chance he might never play again. He spoke about his outlook on Kyrgios’ trajectory on SEN radio and talked about what else he can do besides playing tennis. 

The injuries have caught up with him. I actually think he’s going to struggle to get back, to be totally honest,” Phillips said on SEN radio. “There’s a plethora of stuff he can do away from tennis. He’s dabbled in commentary recently and made a good fist of that, we know he’s got a good IQ and he’s got his foundation, he’ll be in demand.”

He further said Kyrgios never said that he wanted a long tennis career. Kyrgios started talking about retirement not long ago, and with his injuries, the situation is not improving for him. Kyrgios’s withdrawal news did not settle well with his fans. But how he announced the news caused further upset.

Kyrgios upsets fans with withdrawal news

The Aussie bad boy excited the tennis world when he said that he would return to the sport in the first slam of 2024. After a year of absence, the news of his return was trending in no time. But recently, he created an Only Fans page where he said that he had sealed another piece of news, which turned out to be the announcement of his withdrawal.

Fans were left bereft of Kyrgios again, and they believe that is a lack of motivation on his part to get better. One fan asked if he could just retire so they wouldn’t have to hear news from him about tennis. Another fan said that it was laziness on his end to improve. As the hiatus has no end in sight, Kyrgios fans might have to move on to other players.
