Andrey Rublev, the Russian tennis ace, is an outspoken person. He expressed his emotions freely on the matter of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine earlier. Further, he openly denounced Wimbledon for banning Russian and Belarusian players as well.

This time as well, keeping true to himself, he made a heartfelt statement. Rublev, repeating his move from this season’s Dubai International Championships, wrote a message for the world. Here’s what he had to say about the possible aftermath of his action.

Rublev, while in the post-match conference after securing his first win in the ATP Finals, opened up about writing a peace message on the on-court camera. When asked if he was worried about what might follow after he wrote “Peace, Peace, Peace, all we need” on the camera. He said, “I don’t know. I mean, like I said, I did what I feel.”

Thereafter, he added, “During the year, I think I did many statements already. There is not much I can say something new. I think I did already many statements very clear.”

“Today I did what I feel. It comes natural. I don’t know. Both of us from the same country. I don’t know, just feel this way, and that’s it.”

Rublev got the better of compatriot and former World no.1 Daniil Medvedev in sets of 6(7)- 7 6-3 7- 6(7). This was their sixth meeting and with this win, the 25-year-old advanced his score to 2-4.

Who is Rublev’s next opponent?

Rublev will next lock horns with the 21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. Djokovic, who, taking advantage of his Wimbledon win, made an entry in the tournament outclassed the former World no.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas. He currently is riding high on confidence and will meet the Russian with a will to win the tiebreaker.

Also, he will look forward to avenging his Serbian Open finals loss. Currently, their scores are tied at one win each.
