Novak Djokovic is not even entering the GOAT discussion, as his racket speaks on his behalf. Since the time the 36-year-old Serbian tennis player won his 24th Grand Slam title, there has been a lot of discussion going on regarding who’s the best on the tennis court. But now, Mats Wilander, a seven-time Grand Slam champion himself, has dished out a clear statement to end the debate for good.
A few weeks ago, after calling Roger Federer the greatest tennis player of all time, Wilander might have changed his mind. The former Swedish tennis player drew a strong verdict regarding Novak Djokovic bringing the class act into action.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion has recently shared his take on the GOAT debacle in men’s tennis. He made a clear remark during a recent podcast appearance on Andy Zodin’s KickServeRadio.com. Apparently, he stated that the 2023 US Open champion is standing a step ahead of his other two rivals, Federer and Rafael Nadal.
He said, “He’s (Djokovic) such a class act in what he’s doing, and it feels like the pressure and the weight is lifted off his shoulders. Because he’s gone. He’s run away from Federer and Nadal and it’s clear to everybody he is the best of all time. And he must probably will forever.”
Wilander praised the world’s number one-ranked tennis player to the fullest, regarding how he can be the best of all time. In addition, the Serb has achieved feats never before seen in the history of the game, making this year on the tennis court particularly memorable. Nevertheless, just a few weeks ago, Wilander sang a different tune as he gave a nod to a certain Swiss legend as the greatest tennis player ever.

Before Djokovic, Wilander hailed Federer as the G.O.A.T.
Despite praising the 2023 US Open champion, just a few days ago, according to Tennis 365, Mats Wilander made a decisive statement. He hailed the 20-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer, as the G.O.A.T. saying, “The ‘greatest of all time’, I like to give to Roger Federer because I think he put tennis in everyone’s TV set.”
Wilander also stated that the GOAT debate should not be settled based only on the number of Grand Slam titles won. But he believes that the charismatic and stylish Federer, somewhere, has had the biggest impact overall on tennis fans by compelling them to watch tennis on a regular basis. On that front, who can disagree with the 7-time Grand Slam winner?
