Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Laver Cup, joining Team Europe for their battle against Team World from September 20-22. “At this stage in my career I really want to go out there and make the most of every opportunity I am given”, Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal spoke post entering Bjorn Borg’s “Captains Picks”.

Laver Cup’s official X handle recently shared the update with a poster of the Spaniard proudly wearing the badge of Team Europe. With this, fans now have one more reason to have a keen eye on the event where Bjorn Borg’s team will fight to take on the title against John McEnroe’s team.

The Spaniard’s participation in the annual team event is set to be a delight for the fans. On his run to attain the title for Team Europe, Rafa will partner up with elites like Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev to battle against Team World. Led by former tennis pro John McEnroe, the team will be defending the title with players like Alex De Minaur, Tommy Paul, and Taylor Fritz already on the roster.

Rafa’s entry in the event this year will mark a special moment for the fans as they have an opportunity to witness his dominance once again after two years. The 37-year-old’s last participation dates back to 2022 when he shared the court with none other than Roger Federer, backing him to play the last match of his career.

As the Spaniard is all set to be a part of the action, it not only is a moment to remember the glorious times but also to witness new ones that will mark his last appearance in the event.

In his announcement to be a part of the event, the tennis star expressed his excitement to be a part. “I am very happy to be playing Laver Cup in Berlin for Team Europe,” said Rafa.

“I have some really special memories from my Laver Cup experiences, including all the emotions from London two years ago playing alongside Roger for the last time,” he added, remembering the golden moments spent alongside the Swiss tennis maestro. Now that he looks forward to be back again, it is evident that he gets to live the same old memories and create news ones as well.
