Even though the 40-year-old is not at his peak fitness, he looks optimistic about his return. Revealing the reason behind choosing the Laver cup as his comeback tournament, the former world number 1 said“Laver cup is a good start. I don’t have to play five matches in six days.”

Notably, the 20-time Grand Slam champion went through yet another knee surgery which has kept him out of action for over a year. Looking at his age it is a wise decision for Federer to take it slow rather than rushing to more demanding tournaments.
