Severin Lüthi and Rune’s separation came after the Danish player’s stint in the Australian Open came to an end. The news astounded the world as they split after two months because of scheduling issues. Lüthi did not talk about the two going separate ways but finally opened the lid on the secret and said that the time for their split was right.

He told Blick that the separation was amicable. He further confirmed Aneke Rune’s, Holger’s mother’s, argument that the timing for them to get together was not right. “If you notice this, then I say: we would rather separate now than in six months.”

He further said that their partnership was not a quick fix. “I think about things like this carefully, maybe sometimes too carefully. I’m glad I was able to have this experience – it was my first job after Roger Federer’s resignation. That will help me personally.”
