In response to these challenges, the Roger Federer Foundation launched its School Readiness Initiative in Lesotho in June 2020. The initiative is scheduled to continue until December 2025. It aims to reach at least 60,000 children in 800 institutions offering reception classes.

The initiative also prioritizes the capacity-building of reception class teachers to ensure the delivery of high-quality early learning.
