Opening up about the comparisons of Alcaraz with the Big Three, Federer said, “I see a bit of the power on the forehand side, Rafa’s style a little bit. Maybe also more the technique from me. Obviously you see the dropshot, you see he’s using slice, he can play from the back like Rafa can. And then he’s got some defensive skills that rival Novak’s but Novak’s obviously at an elite level because when you do it for so many years, you stand alone basically.”

Further, he went on to add, “Like Rafa on clay & all that… Maybe there’s a combination but it’s also not fair to say that bc Carlos is Carlos, like Novak is Novak & Rafa is Rafa. I don’t like it when there is just too many comparisons. I like when they stand alone.”

Federer has been quite vocal about Alcaraz and has been closely following him. Recently, he made a cheeky comment about him at the Shanghai Masters.
