The memories from the 2022 Laver Cup are still alive in the minds of every tennis fan. Roger Federer bid adieu to the sport in that tournament, with Rafael Nadal beside him. It was an emotional moment for the entire tennis community as the sport was losing one of the greatest players of all time. Two years later, those memories have been brought back again.

Earlier today, the official Twitter handle of the Laver Cup announced that Rafael Nadal will be making it to Team Europe for the Laver Cup 2024 in Berlin. Subsequently, Federer took to his official Instagram handle and shared a glimpse of himself with Nadal on his Instagram story. Further, he wrote, “Vamos Rafa,” with Federer welcoming Nadal in his trademark style.

Moreover, there is a high probability that Federer will be in attendance to witness the Laver Cup in Berlin as he did last year. If this happens, the legendary duo will be seen again together at the tournament, albeit with the Swiss maestro in a different role. Meanwhile, this is a welcome update for Nadal fans, who have missed watching their hero in action for most of the 2024 season. Even Nadal expressed his joy of playing in the Laver Cup later this season.

Rafael Nadal ‘very happy’ with Laver Cup participation

The Spaniard was approached by Team Europe’s captain, Bjorn Borg, and became the ‘captain’s pick’ after accepting the invitation to play this year’s Laver Cup. While his team lost the last time he played, Nadal will hope that he can turn around Team Europe’s fortune this time around.

Further, expressing his emotions about playing in the prestigious event, Nadal said, “I am very happy to be playing Laver Cup in Berlin for Team Europe. I have some really special memories from my Laver Cup experiences, including all the emotions from London two years ago playing alongside Roger for the last time.”

Meanwhile, Nadal will face stiff competition at the tournament. He’ll have the likes of Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, and Tommy Paul on his opposite team. This year’s Laver Cup will be held in the Uber Arena in Berlin from 20-22 September 2024.
