The Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer, has moved away from the sport after delivering some iconic performances during his journey. With his pure class and elegance, the 20-time singles Grand Slam champion has stunned a plethora of tennis fans. Not just the fans but Federer has also been admired by a number of prominent figures.

Notably, former French Open champion and television presenter, Sue Barker is also a huge admirer of the Swiss Maestro. Additionally, the legendary TV presenter recently ended the ‘GOAT’ debate that always includes the ‘Big Three’ in tennis: Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. She further revealed a cryptic reason behind her answer about the player she admired the most.

Sue Barker on choosing between Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic

The ‘Big 3’, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic have dominated the ATP tour for the past two decades. As a result, tennis fans are often engaged in a heated ‘GOAT’ debate about choosing between the three legendary players. However, the recently retired TV presenter, Sue Barker, inadvertently expressed her opinion on the ‘GOAT’ debate during an interview at the BT Sport Action Woman Awards 2022. Barker stated, “And then I looked over at Roger because, well, let’s face it why wouldn’t you?”

She went on to talk about her prior interviews with the Swiss Maestro. During those interviews, Barker used to ask Federer about ‘the best moment’ of his illustrious tennis journey. She further revealed that retired Swiss tennis legend answered her by saying that “Winning Wimbledon. it’s what I dreamed of – but you made me cry.”

Barker further stated, “I looked at him and thought I’m not going to do a Roger, I can’t walk away from Wimbledon blubbing.

During the interview, Barker was later asked about her favorite tennis player, considering that she may just have answered that by mentioning Federer. As a result, she laughingly replied, “Oh, do you think. He even smells nice.”

Barker also talked about Billie Jean King

During the interview, the former British tennis player also talked about the American tennis legend, Billie Jean King. Barker said that she was hugely inspired by King when she won the ‘Battle of the Sexes’. During that historical match, the 12-time singles Grand Slam champion defeated the former No.1 ranked men’s player, Bobby Riggs.

As a result, Barker, who was massively inspired by King’s performance, decided to follow the path of becoming a tennis athlete. Later on, Barker stunned a plethora of fans when she won the French Open title in 1976. Barker also made her mark as a legendary TV presenter in addition to being a great tennis player.
