Ever since the retirement of Roger Federer at the 2022 Laver Cup, there has been a common question among the majority of the fans in the tennis community – what will be the future of the Swiss maestro in tennis? While some hinted that he might take up coaching duties, some wanted Federer to become a commentator. Meanwhile, the 20-time Grand Slam champion has been mum over his future prospects in the sport. Earlier today, he added more suspense to this glaring question with a candid revelation.

The former World Number 1 bid adieu to the sport after an emotional Laver Cup campaign in 2022. The entire tennis world came to a standstill as tears in Federer’s eyes were felt by every fan. Two years after that emotional retirement, Federer broke silence about his future in the sport with an intriguing statement.

Minutes ago, the first look at Federer’s visual biography was released on social media. It offers personal insights and never-before-seen images of a remarkable four-decade-long relationship with the game of tennis. In that biography, Federer hints about his future in tennis, saying, “Tennis has been the vehicle to meeting people, travel the world, learning about cultures. Every champion has a very unique story. I want it to be a story that people feel inspired by. I will always want to be connected to the sport.”

Indeed, Federer has stayed true to his words. Even after his retirement, he remained active in the tennis world, sometimes attending matches and following players at various tournaments. Nonetheless, many fans have been dreaming if the Swiss maestro would make a surprise comeback to the sport as a player. However, Federer quashed those rumors with a firm stance on his comeback.

Roger Federer doesn’t want to look back at his retirement

Earlier this year, the Swiss maestro’s new documentary ‘Federer: Twelve Final Days’ was released in which he shared glimpses of the events leading up to his retirement. In what was an emotional exit from the sport, the 20-time Grand Slam champion doesn’t intend to revisit that time again.

Is Roger Federer hinting at a comeback, or is he ready to hang up his racket for good?

Have an interesting take?

He revealed, “I’m really relieved, if that makes any sense. I mean, the last few years have been tough with my knee. You could feel the end coming closer. So when it’s all said and done and you’re over the line and you’re retired officially, you take a deep breath and you’re like, ‘Wow, okay, that was good.’”

Despite not wanting to return as a player, Federer has often been seen attending tournaments across the world. Last month, he was seen suited up and attended the action at the Wimbledon Championships. Nonetheless, with his recent statement about always wanting to be connected to tennis, it remains to be seen if he’s seen in any other role apart from a tennis player.
