Roger Federer is back! Well, not on the tennis court, but he is playing again. The Swiss Maestro’s competitive spirit is still alive. His body might not be supporting a physical sport like tennis, but he surely found a different way to compete. Recently, Uniqlo announced a comeback of “24 Hours with Roger”. Here Roger Federer explores different cities across the globe and Uniqlo films him.
In the comeback episode, Roger Federer played chess with a 12-year-old chess master in New York. The video is out on the official website and it has received plenty of traction from the fans.

Federer sat against the Chess Master Tani Adewumi. Before the chess match, Roger said, “I’ve never been nervous in a while since my playing days. But I’ve never sat across a Chess Master, so today, well I may be a little nervous.”
The 12-year-old Chess Master gave Federer a slender advantage by playing with one rook only. During the match, the two interacted and Federer was quite impressed by his ambitions. Adewumi wishes to be a grandmaster by the age of 14. He shared how he got into the sport and how long has he been playing before eventually checkmating the Swiss ace.

It was a heartwarming interaction between the two masters. There was a bit of humor involved as well. In fact, the 12-year-old’s certain comment that included Rafael Nadal was the highlight of the video.

After losing the first round to the Chess Master, the 12-year-old’s friends came to the table to meet Federer. The Swiss Maestro thought that he would have to play all of them. The Chess Master said, “I mean, you should have brought Nadal and them“. Federer started laughing himself and said, “Yeah, I thought they were my friends, clearly not.”

It turns out that Federer played the Chess Master again and lost comfortably. The two had a really heartwarming exchange that included their career trajectories, future plans and some humor towards the end.
