The man receives love from people who don’t even follow the sport. Therefore, his farewell carried a lot of expectations. It had to be the best from the speeches to other things such as lighting, and the Laver Cup took proper care of it.
Admittedly, many were not pleased with the singer of the event, Ellie Goulding, and even accused her of ruining the big day. However, the recent appreciation post arriving from the 20 times Grand Slam champion overturned the hate.

Roger Federer thanks Goulding
Federer, after bidding farewell to his illustrious 24-year-long career with Goulding’s live performance in the background, took on social media to thank her for her efforts. He wrote, “your performance last night made the evening absolutely perfect.”

“Can’t thank you enough for being there.” Federer added. Dressed in a shiny white gown, she dedicated Falling For You and Let It Burn to Federer’s last dance.
However, from her singing to her outfit, she received severe backlash on social media soon after the event. But the former World no.1’s note has helped mend things as people are settling for the fact that the person for whom she performed liked it.
The historic Laver Cup

The fifth edition of the Laver Cup is an event that will be embedded in the books of tennis. The tournament which witnessed the Swiss maestro’s last match is the only one to present the big four competing for the same team as well.
Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray teamed up for the first and last time this season. The big four alongside Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Matteo Berrettini took charge of Team Europe’s camp.

The 41-year-old shook hands with the 22 times Grand Slam champion Nadal to square off with the American duo of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. And with his biggest rival and friend by his side, Federer said goodbye to the sport.
