With Roger Federer‘s documentary, ‘FEDERER: Twelve Final Days,’ set to hit the screens on June 20th, the anticipation is palpable and the excitement is enormous. Fans are eager to delve deeper into the life of their idol, and now, the Swiss Maestro himself has revealed the most emotional aspect of the film. sending waves of curiosity and emotion through his global fanbase.

In an interview that featured on La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 42-year-old revealed that the most interesting part of the film is its initial phase. He revealed the role that his wife Mirka Federer and Spanish counterpart Rafael Nadal have played in the documentary and termed them as one of the best parts of the documentary.

When asked about what could be the most emotional angle to the film, Federer said, “Probably Mirka and Rafa’s speeches, the moments behind the scenes and those of the entire initial phase of the film, everything that happens in the first five minutes.” Emphasizing further the importance of the initial phase of the film, he said “Here, don’t miss the beginning!

He even claimed that the speeches delivered by Rafa and Mirka would surely leave the fans teary-eyed! The tennis legend’s admission is also interesting because of the fact that Mirka’s shot in the film was nothing but accidental.

The documentary was initially planned only for people close to the Federer family. This made Mirka participate and add value to the film. However, soon after the documentary was released, the makers ans well as the Federers decided it to be too good to limit the audience. Speaking about the same, the director of the documentary, Joe Sabia acknowledged the support he received. “I think the context changed when everyone realizes it’s gonna be a film for everyone and I think everyone was on board.” Besides Mirka, Federer’s admission about Rafa once again highlights their off-the-court ‘bromance,’ of sorts.

In an earlier interview, Roger Federer admitted that Nadal was one of the first players to be informed about his retirement. “This is a very unusual situation for us to be on the same team. That changed the whole dynamics of my farewell. My hope was I could play doubles with Rafa. So I called him up after the US Open. It was a very emotional phone call because it was one of the first times I told somebody outside of my team and my family.”

This was also reported to have left a strong impact on Rafael Nadal right before his round of 16 match against Frances Tiafoe. The ‘King of Clay’ eventually lost the match as well. Meanwhile, Rafa’s admiration for Federer is not just limited to tennis courts.

The Spanish legend said, “There in the mountains, we had a very interesting conversation about a word that I think is very important: legacy.” Continuing further in Spanish, he said, that both of them wish to be remembered not for their on-court achievements but for their individual personalities as well. “We are both very sure of our answers. It’s great that our achievements, our titles, and our records are recognized, but as the years go by it is probable that someone will arrive and do something better.” He further added that both of them would like to be remembered as ‘good people.

While the rivalry between the two has already come to an end, the admiration they have continued to share has continued to capture headlines. With Rafa probably playing the last season of his career, these memories reveal much more about the camaraderie they shared!
