Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal may be ex-peers but their respect for each other has not dimmed. It hasn’t been long since the Swiss tennis maestro paid a visit to the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca in January and was reunited with his iconic rival. Now he is back at another one of the Spaniard’s training institutes, this time with some company in tow!
Recently, a tennis fan shared a post on X in which Federer can be seen spending a good time with budding enthusiasts at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center. While it’s not made clear which location Federer is at, the visit this time was extra special as he was accompanied by his family as they explored the courts filled with talented players.
“It was an honor and my pleasure to take care of them. And also get to know how lovely it’s the family,” said the host who received the Federer family. The visit didn’t seem to be formal as Federer was seen interacting with kids in the center. The young tennis players tried to seek him and ended up having conversations and getting autographs from the legend while also clicking photographs with him.

Rafael Nadal, who experienced a defeat against Hubert Hurkacz in Rome in the ongoing Italian Open, wasn’t there at the academy to receive his old friend. However, despite his absence, the glimpses revealed that Federer had a great time, experiencing a homely feeling at the academy run by his long-time on-court rival.
Interestingly, Nadal had chosen Federer to officially open his Rafa Nadal Academy in 2016. At that time Federer had said that he would be sending his children to the Mallorcan facility and indeed he did exactly that.
In 2023, Federer, who has four kids, revealed that he sent his two daughters to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy while his twin sons went to the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy. “All four kids love it. The girls didn’t love it in the beginning but as they get better, they’re enjoying it and playing points now. They were up at [John] McEnroe Academy in East Hampton, and the boys were in Mallorca at the [Rafael Nadal] camp for a couple of days,” he revealed in an interview with Wall Street Journal.
The Rafa Nadal Training Center calls three countries across the world home – Mexico, Hong Kong, and Greece. Federer just landed in New York City to attend the premiere of his documentary, and so it is not yet clear which of three centers he was visiting. “Federer: Twelve Final Days” is set to explore the Swiss maestro’s Laver Cup days and the time leading up to it.
It’s expected that along with his wife Mirka, Federer’s Big 3 rivals Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will also be present in the documentary that was originally supposed to be a home video. The reunion will be bittersweet and fans can certainly expect many tears to be shed.

The Swiss tennis maestro continues to extend his love for the Spanish academy, and this revisit would be remiss without touching on the last time the Swiss/ Spaniard duo got together!
When Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer clicked adorable pictures in Spain
This was the second time in the same year that Roger Federer paid a visit to an institute associated with Nadal. As the Spaniard wasn’t really involved in the competitive tennis scene back then, he received his friend and the two clicked pictures to remind fans of the golden days. Nadal guided Federer with a tour of his academy and during his visit 20-time Grand Slam Champion also posed with Joan Nadal, the son of Toni Nadal, who is Rafa’s uncle and was on his coaching team till 2017.

Soon after the updates of Federer’s visit started to garner the attention of fans on social media, Nadal posted an update on his Instagram in which he can be seen posing with the former pro. “Great to have you here with me today my friend. Thanks for the visit and hope to see you again very soon 🙏🏻,” he captioned the post to honor his friend’s visit.
As Federer was seen spending time under his friend’s banner, fans eagerly await their reunion at the upcoming Laver Cup, which could possibly be the last time Rafa plays as a professional.
