There is no denying that Jannik Sinner is in phenomenal form this season, having reached the top 5 spots in the men’s rankings. The Italian tennis star has clinched three ATP singles titles this season including his recent triumphant campaign at the China Open. On top of this, the 22-year-old also enjoyed his deepest Grand Slam run at the Wimbledon where he reached the semifinal round.

However, despite his rapid progress, the current world No. 4 recently got called out by the tennis authorities of his country. The president of the Italian Federation candidly opened up about how the young tennis sensation has many more things to improve in his game while he compared him to the other players ahead of him, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

Angelo Binaghi, the Italian Tennis Federation president, recently suggested that Sinner needs to have greater room for improvement compared to the three players ahead of him in the rankings. The tennis authority also issued another bold take on how the 22-year-old is a “less complete player” than the higher-ranked players including Djokovic and Alcaraz.

“Sinner’s fortune lies in his weaknesses; he is a much less complete player than the three ahead of him,” Binaghi said. “The young ATP phenomenon has a few areas in his game that require improvement, as highlighted by the Italian.

“The fact that he continues to have endurance limits or needs to improve aspects, such as his service and smash, tells us that there is room for further growth.”

Binaghi claimed that the current world No. 4 needs to work on various aspects, particularly, his service and smash, as there is a major room for enhancement. The Italian Federation president’s assertions have come as a huge surprise given the young tennis star’s recent triumph in Beijing, where he defeated top-ranked players.

The top 2 seed players in the tournament, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev, both tasted defeats at the hands of their Italian colleagues. Sinner, who entered the ATP Tour 500 event as the sixth seed, absolutely thumped the reigning Wimebdlon champion, 7-6, 6-1 in the semifinals.
