Earlier this week, the Swiss maestro got featured in an interview with New York Times. Federer talked about various subjects, including his business ventures and special moments. During one such segment, the 20-time Grand Slam was asked about how he planned to go on stage at Coldplay concert.

Talking about this, the Swiss maestro said, “I met the band when I saw them in Montreal. I don’t know what year it was — maybe 2016? We’ve been in touch a bit. I’ve seen Chris Martin in the Hamptons several times.”

Further, he went on to add, “So when they came to Zurich, I reached out and said, “I’m so excited, I would love to come.” Chris wrote me back and asked if I wanted to come onstage.”

Federer’s daughter also had a role to play in Federer getting on the stage. He revealed his conversation with his daughter, saying, “I asked my daughter at dinner, and she looked at me and said: “You have to do this. You only live once.” So I told Chris, “I’m in.” I didn’t even know what I had signed up for.”

Mirka watched in awe

The former World Number 1 was present along with his wife, Mirka at the Coldplay concert in Zurich. Further, as Federer joined Coldplay on stage and made his electrifying singing debut, his wife watched Federer in awe. Not only the fans but also Mirka was impressed by the Swiss legend’s singing skills.
