The World No.2, Daniil Medvedev showed some super resilience against Novak Djokovic in the finals of the US Open. As a result, Medvedev managed to lift the trophy at the Flushing Meadows. Russian Professor, Alexander Poleev claimed that Medvedev’s new haircut could be a symbol of high self-esteem.
Poleev said to Match TV, “He won a Grand Slam tournament, which the Russians hadn’t done for 16 years. [He was] looking for an image of a winner. [And] a sharp jump in self-esteem among athletes is very common.”
The professor further added, “After victory, Medvedev believed in himself, believed that he could become a winner in the next tournaments – and this requires a short haircut. In the heat, the hair gets in the way.” Poleev also talked about the importance of gaining social status rather than earning money out of the victories.
