Renowned Equity Firm Holds $1 Billion Stake in Roger Federer?s Signature Shoemaking Company

20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer is arguably the best male tennis player the world has ever seen. At the same time, he is also one of the most profitable athletes on the planet. According to Forbes, the Swiss player is the 7th highest-earning athlete and the richest tennis player in 2021.?

Since Roger made a deal with the Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo back in 2018, the Swiss Maestro has become even wealthier. In 2019, Roger also signed a deal with On to make signature shoes for him.

The signature shoes of Roger Federer have a massive deal with shareholders

3G capital, the renowned equity firm, invested a lot of money in Roger Federer?s signature shoe-making company On. According to Bloomberg, they hold a $1 billion stake at On.?

Jorge Paulo Lemann, the father of Marc Lemann, is a very good friend of Roger Federer. In a recent interview, the Swiss player said, ?Jorge Paulo has a lovely family, and over time we got to know each other? He also has a tennis court in his house that I?ve enjoyed on several occasions to get ready for tournaments.?

Although On is a Swiss company, they didn?t make any shoes before. In 2019, they partnered with Roger Federer to make a shoe and named it after the Swiss player, called Roger Pro. Roger first debuted those shoes at the 2021 Qatar Open and later we all saw those beautiful shoes at the Wimbledon Championships last year.?

Will Roger play in this year?s Wimbledon?

The Swiss maestro hasn?t played a single match after losing to Hubert Hurkacz in the Wimbledon quarterfinal. Federer lost that match pretty badly in straight sets, suffering his first ever bagel at the Slam. Later, he had to go through another knee surgery to recover fully.?

Ever since the surgery took place, fans are eagerly waiting for any news regarding his return. Till now Federer is following all the protocols to recover from the surgery. In April, the Swiss player may provide an update about his return.

Right now, he is probably aiming for Wimbledon and the grass-court season to make a return on tour. We just have to wait and see for any sort of announcement from his side.
