Refusing to Put Blame on Rafael Nadal’s Uncle, ‘Culprit’ Felix Auger-Aliassime Comes Down Hard on Himself Over His Horrendous Form

Playing in front of the home crowd is a special feeling for any player. So was the case with the Canadian player Felix Auger Aliassime who played in the Canadian Open. However, looking to have a long run in the tournament, he could not stand up to the fans’ expectations and suffered an early first-round exit. Max Purcell of Australia defeated him in straight sets.

However, in a recent interview, the Canadian player came forward to talk about his loss. He also told who is the person responsible for his early first-round exit at the hands of the Australian.

Felix Auger Aliassime blames himself for his loss at the Canadian Open

In the recent few weeks, the Canadian has been struggling to find his form. After a first-round exit at Wimbledon and a round of 32 defeat at the Citi Open, he came here with big hopes to try and turn around his luck. However, it could not happen as he suffered a first-round exit, yet again. Felix, after a disappointing loss, came forward and talked about it. He mentioned that the fans should not be quick to blame his management or staff as they are not the ones at fault.

Felix went on to say that he is the real reason behind his loss:

“I don’t think the solution is there (in coaching),” admitted Auger-Aliassime. “I have the same people around me who brought me there last year. We are all in solution mode internally to see how I can play better. But the main culprit is me. It’s up to me to find the solution,”  said Felix in the interview as reported by Tennis Upto Date.

“I fight a little with myself. I felt good in training the last few days, but to start [the game] badly like that, it’s totally my fault. It was the worst way to start a game, especially in a period like I’m living right now.”

He also went on to mention that he had a bad start to the game which eventually led him to a loss.

The legendary Spanish coach has helped Rafa win multiple silverware and lay his hands on various grand slams as well. Toni is joined by Frédéric Fontang, a former French player to help Felix improve his game.

Thus, Felix’s recent words shed light on his nature and describe his mental strength to take responsibility all by himself rather than just putting it on someone else. With US Open on the horizon, he would be willing to make a strong impact and break the deadlock with a superb win.
