Among a huge pile of files that hold traces of arguments between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, the year 2009 counts as a major one. As Novak Djokovic stood against Andy Roddick in a quarter-final match of the Australian Open, Nole called off from the match as he couldn’t take the Australian heat.

Commenting over the incident, Federer, in an interview, said, Well its happened before so I mean he’s not the guy who has never given up in his career. So that’s kind of disappointing to see when you got two tough guys playing and you give up. I mean he gave up against me in Monaco last year because of some sore throat. I’ve only given up basically once in my career.” Coming back to the present, a video of this interview, recently started catching the attention of Nole fans on the internet again, over which, they came forward with rageful comments.

The fans, as they started spotting the video that contained harsh comments for their favorite tennis star, began to despise Federer over it. A fan, referring to the whole scenario as jealousy, said, “Roger definitely has a nasty streak, and is pathologically jealous of Novak’s abilities. He hated it when Novak had his number and he realized he could no longer beat Novak . Pathetic !”

Another fan, pointing out the Swiss tennis maestro’s insecurity regarding Djokovic, commented, “This interview way back when clearly indicates Federer’s insecurity, he already knew Djokovic was a big threat to his supremacy. Otherwise he would have taken the high road.”

Another fan, coming up with a witty response, said, “Sour, sore and salty in one.”

A fan directly came forward to express her thoughts over Federer’s words as she commented, “Shocks me every time I see it.”

The trail of comments viewed the whole scenario from different perspectives. A fan, focusing on how Federer bragged about his numbers, said, “Funny how he ended up making it about himself “I’ve only given up once…”. The master of humblebrag.”

With these and several other comments, Nole fans united once again to ensure the strong image of their favorite tennis. While the fans still show such high levels of faith in the Serbinator, their combined efforts dimmed the light that Federer once raised in 2009.
