Fans were disappointed when Roger Federer withdrew from the US Open 2021. He last played at the Wimbledon Championships 2021 and hasn’t even trained himself at any practice session before the hard-court season. There’s even more unfortunate news coming from Federer’s camp about his prolonged absence.
20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer recently announced that he will not be playing at the Laver Cup 2021. He will be undergoing a knee surgery soon and thus, has decided to withdraw from the tournament. In a recent interview to the Laver Cup, he revealed that he is really disappointed that he can’t participate in his favorite tennis event.

“I’m really disappointed to be missing this year’s Laver Cup,” said Federer in the interview.

Federer is one of the founders of the Laver Cup. There have been three editions of the tournament so far and interestingly, Team Europe have won the trophy every single time.

Roger Federer wishes Team Europe best of luck ahead of Laver Cup 2021
Even though Federer is not a part of the tournament, he believes that Team Europe still has the potential of winning their fourth Laver Cup this year. He also gave his best wishes to all the players of Team Europe before the tournament.

“Team Europe has an incredible line-up though and I wish them all the very best as they go for their fourth Laver Cup win,” added the Swiss maestro.

The Laver Cup 2021 will begin on September 24, 2021 and will extend till September 26, 2021. Many big players like Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Matteo Berrettini have already confirmed their presence for the tournament. Will Team Europe be able to defend their title this year?
