Carlos Alcaraz has finally made his way to New York. After a hectic week in Cincinnati that saw him reach the final of the Western and Southern Open, the 20-year-old practiced at Flushing Meadows hours after landing in New York. The Spanish sensation is the defending champion and one of the favorites to win the tournament. However, before the start of the tournament, he had a memorable evening alongside American star, Frances Tiafoe.

Alcaraz and Tiafoe were present at the Louis Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday night to participate in a charity match. Joining them was the NBA icon, Jimmy Butler and Columbian singer, Sebastian Yatra. After the match, the four had a memorable event.

The US Open charity match was organized to raise funds for Ukraine’s humanitarian aid. With a lot of star power on the show, the Louis Armstrong Stadium was packed with thousands of fans. The overall fund raised from the event amounted to over 300 thousand dollars.

After the event, Alcaraz and Tiafoe posed alongside Yatra and Butler for a selfie. Also joining them were thousands of fans in the stands, who clearly enjoyed the grand show. Subsequently, Alcaraz shared the picture on his official Twitter handle. Additionally, he also mentioned, NY! Very happy to be back in a place as special to me as the @usopen! @SebastianYatra @FTiafoe @JimmyButler”

Butler and Tiafoe teamed up to play against Alcaraz and Yatra. However, it was the Miami Heat icon who stole the show in a fun-filled evening.

Butler wins a point against Alcaraz

The 33-year-old NBA star was dressed up in ball boy attire as Alcaraz and Tiafoe played in a singles exhibition match. During their match, Butler interrupted and chose to play a point against the Spaniard.

Understandably, Alcaraz went easy against him. However, Butler hit a quick forehand winner to erupt the crowd as he clinched an amazing point against the defending US Open champion. Meanwhile, Alcaraz will hope to get back to winning ways after a heartbreaking Cincinnati final defeat against Novak Djokovic. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs under pressure with the favorites tag on him.
