In his comeback tournament in Australia, the Spanish tennis star secured back-to-back wins after outclassing some players of high caliber. The 37-year-old player’s robust comeback has now prompted a tennis bigwig to issue a bold prediction.

After undergoing necessary surgery, the ‘King of the Clay’ is back following his season-long injury absence from the game. Reacting to his stellar return, renowned tennis broadcaster Jason Goodall opened up about how he believes that it won’t be Nadal’s last season on the tour.

In the latest episode of the Inside-In Podcast, Goodall talked about the 22-time singles Grand Slam champion’s recent victories at his comeback event, the Brisbane International. He also said, “But what was I think the best news was off the back of the match, he said he’s playing pain-free. And he said he has been pain-free for a while. So he has been able to practice at 100 percent. He has been able to practice with the best guys in the world and give it 100 percent.

If Nadal manages to stay fit, Goodall also claimed that “there’s no reason why it has to be his last season” on the tennis circuit. He added, “And I think if you’re pain-free, then you can relax almost and then just concentrate on the process and on winning matches. And I think that’s where he struggled in the past when he had to play with pain. So I think that’s the best news. If he can stay pain-free, if he can stay injury-free, then he can manage a season and then there’s no reason why it has to be his last season.”
