Rafael Nadal is definitely one of the most accomplished tennis players of all time. He is the first male player to ever win 21 Grand Slam titles, and also holds the record for most titles won at a single event. But when asked what he likes to do to relax, or to keep his fitness up, he often says he turns to golf.

Recently, pro-American golfer Nelly Korda, an Olympic Gold medallist, suffered an injury and Rafael Nadal was quick to wish her a speedy recovery.

Rafael Nadal comments on Nelly Korda’s post

Nelly Korda plays on the LPGA tour, having won it 7 times. Recently, she posted an update about her health. She spoke about how she experienced some pain and swelling in her arm during her morning workout. On reaching the Emergency room, she was diagnosed with a blood clot. She informed her fans that she is currently under treatment at home and requested some privacy and support during this time until she can provide further information.

Rafael Nadal, the current World Number 4, replied to her post  “Vamos Nelly. Get well soon!”

Nelly Korda’s relation to tennis

Nelly Korda herself is related to the world of tennis. Her parents Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtová were both Czech professional tennis players. Petr Korda, with a career-high ranking of 2, won the 1998 Australian Open singles title and the 1996 Australian Open doubles title with Stefan Edberg. Incidentally, Nelly’s brother, Sebastian Korda is also a tennis player. He was Rafael Nadal’s second-round opponent at the Indian Wells  Masters 2022.

While Sebastian served for the match at 5-2 in the deciding set, Nadal showed tremendous fighting spirit to escape from the jaws of defeat. Nadal broke back twice and won the set and match in the deciding set tie-break. The Spaniard won 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(3).
