The question of who deserves the label of “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) in tennis has remained a mystery, enthralling both fans and professionals. Rafael Nadal recently shared his strong take on the same. Recently, the 37-year-old Spaniard dished out a strong GOAT statement as he made a strong case for himself over Novak Djokovic.

Even the most passionate fans of the sport are unable to come up with a conclusive response. With three players with incredible histories and accomplishments—Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic—the argument has become the most contentious issue in the tennis world.

With 22 Grand Slam titles in his bag, Nadal is one of the players in history who has won the most number of titles. But at the same time, while he was out of the court because of an injury, his rival and other GOAT contender, Djokovic, took over control of his victories by himself and became the first man to ever win 24 Grand Slam titles.

But do you know that the Spaniard recently made a strong stand for himself as a goat? He said, “The numbers sure say so; for me he is, from what I have seen. One can say that I’ve been injured in so many Grand Slams and he hasn’t, but he’s had a better body that mine and that also counts.”

While he clearly stated that the numbers speak a lot for him and that they are the decisive point for him in the debacle. But on the other hand, he also highlighted how, because he was injured, the Serbian was able to cross the Grand Slam line to a greater extent, putting himself above him.

“with respect to titles, Djokovic is the best in history” – Rafa’s ultimate verdict for Djokovic

While the 37-year-old has always been clear about how he likes to make decisions through statistics and numbers, a few months ago he made an admission, making the reality of the man’s tennis world clear. He said, “I don’t drop any rings nor do I have an ego big enough to try to disguise a reality. This is the truth. The rest are tastes, inspiration, and sensations that one or the other may transmit to you, that you may like one or the other more. I think that with respect to titles, Djokovic is the best in history & there is nothing to discuss in that.”

Instead of reassuring himself or keeping himself in the dark, he nuclearly declared his belief that the top-ranked tennis player in the world has better stats than he does, which is undeniable. In addition, he praised Djokovic as the best tennis player, appreciating his skills on the court.
