British No. 1 Dan Evans recently made headlines by thrashing the World No. 1 at the Monte Carlo Masters 2021. Djoker didn’t stand a chance against Evans in the pre-quarters, and Evans crushed him in straight sets to earn the ticket to the quarters. The final scoreline of the match was 6-4, 7-5. While Novak Djokovic lost his pre-quarters match, Rafael Nadal steamrolled Grigor Dimitrov in the pre-quarters. He won the match comfortably by defeating the Bulgarian player 6-1, 6-1.
In the post-match press conference, Rafa expressed his opinion on Dan Evans.

“Big win for his career. So well done for him,” began Nadal. “That’s all I can say. I watched just a few points because I was preparing for my match. But he looks playing quite well to watch.”
Rafa admitted that he didn’t see the full match between Evans and Djokovic. However, he mentioned that it was a big win for Evans and he played some really great tennis to beat the Serbian legend.
The fact that Djokovic is no longer in the tournament should make the Spaniard’s way forward a little easier.
“He was solid”- Rafael Nadal on Dan Evans
Nadal highlighted that he saw how the British player won a point. He believes he looked solid while playing his shots and hardly missed any. “The point that I saw, he was solid, not missing, playing his match,” added the 20-time Grand Slam winner.
Dan Evans will like to carry forward his momentum at the Monte Carlo Masters 2021. He’ll next face David Goffin in the quarters of the tournament.
