Being exposed to questions about the physical issue, Nadal stated, “The amount of pain on the match is not important at all.” Shifting the attention towards his opponent’s performance, he mentioned, “The opponent played well. On being pressed about responding to the severity of the situation, Nadal tactfully dodged the question, saying, “Let’s wait. Is not the day to talk about these kind of stuff. Is the day to be happy and to congratulate the opponent.” He highlighted the need to patiently see how he feels in the coming days, adding, “If I don’t feel well, then we going to do a test and we going to check it.”

Nadal admits the incident’s normality as he plays after a long break

As the tennis star didn’t give a satisfactory response to the questions about his injury, he accepted that the situation arose as a result of his return after a long break. “I need to accept that. After a year (of not playing), that’s normal,” he said, after his disappointing defeat against the Australian.

Despite the events that didn’t really turn out in his favor, the Spaniard also admitted that he had chances to win as he mentioned, “I think he played a good match. For me, it was not the best match, I had a lot of opportunities to win it.”
